You NEED TO SET BOUNDARIES NOW! Make them clear and precise! If she tries to walk all over them then she has no right to see the child. This child deserves as much a normal positive life that he can. I think until she knows where you stand and where she stands that she will try to manipulate...

I completely agree with having the shower after TPR. It's really the way to be fair to you and your guests. What if something disrupted the adoption? Save yourself that added grief and hold off.

I am an adoptive parent in a country without any sort of open adoption. My children are toddlers, so they haven't had these sorts of questions yet but I expect them to. I am planning on trying to start a semi-open adoption with at least one of their birth mothers after all of the adoption...
